A happy first day of school! Ramona said she made 2 friends and Sasha was happy her teacher let them have a dance party at the end of the day. I'm relieved to say the least. When I dropped them off this morning I was sooooo nervous, way more than when either of them went to kindergarten. But luckily kids don't worry about every little thing like us adults do and they just enjoyed themselves.
The only downside of their day was pickup. Kids who get picked up all get lined up in front of the school and the parents drive through to pick them up. I got to the school about 5 minutes before pickup and the line was already very long. It's a big school and probably only half the kids ride the bus. Since it was the first day the pick up was especially slow and the kids were standing out in the sun. By the time I reached them they had been outside almost 20 minutes!!! From where I had been in line I couldn't see where they were waiting or I should've just gone and grabbed them and they weren't in any shade and it's over 100 out!!! Totally crazy, needless to say as soon as they got in the car they lost it and were crying about how thirsty and hot and probably sunburned they were. I felt so bad, I would be really upset if I were them too. I was telling them sorry, sorry I didn't know they were in the sun and that it would take so long. So for tomorrow I'll have to make sure I'm at the school much earlier or find somewhere I can actually park to run get them. We'll figure it out, but I promised them I wouldn't let them melt again.
Hopefully they have another great day tomorrow.
And hopefully tomorrow I can take a nap! I said that today I just desperately wanted to take a recover from the summer nap, but Lucia and River had other plans.

no yellow bus??? I used to have to wait in a big car line to pick Darby up in Mexico. There would be a woman at the gate who would look and see who the parents were and on a microphone call out the kids names and then they would come. It was pretty fast. Sounds like they need a cover to block the sun. So glad school went well...
