When we first moved here I assumed they never closed the schools because it's snowing all winter long and the kids would never go to school. But alas, they do, but it seems more often it's due to excessive wind rather than just the snow. Whiteout conditions they call it. Which stinks because it's not a fun day to go play in the snow, since you fear you might get blown away and with wind chill it feels like 4 degrees out (according to weather.com). And wow, snow days are so much less exciting as an adult than they were as a kid!
