the loft

A bit more progress has been made. We have this odd loft type area that is very popular around here. Every 2-story house that we looked at had some type of open loft area. Most were far more open than ours, overlooking the entire living room. I had no idea what to do with the area, but on its own it has seemed to evolve into the playroom which is nice because the main floor isn't cluttered with toys. It is a great space, with awesome sunlight, but it has this weird halfway that I don't like. I did break down today and buy a few things to make it a bit more cozy for the kids to play and it's also supposed to be our reading area where we do bedtime stories. Each of the girls got their own little papasan chair with a matching ottoman. The top comes off the ottoman so they can put some of their toys in it and use it as a little table. How multi-purpose! Again, still needs some artwork, color, etc but the girls are enjoying it like crazy. But I can't help but wonder, any half- wall suggestions?!? Mike and I have been brainstorming like crazy, just doesn't seem too safe to me.

A picture of Ramona with her cast. She already gets it off next week, so she's really happy about that. Would you guess green is her favorite color?

Love the ottomans! What a nice touch. I love the colors they chose. Cool artwork in there would be awesome!

p.s. Another thing - I'm sure you're already planning on it, but a bookshelf in there (a sturdy one so they can't pull it over) would be great to house all the books for bedtime stories :)

I see you've been shopping at IKEA! I love those dishes! I think a playroom is the perfect plan for that area.
