This morning we woke up to a few inches of snow on the ground which was REALLY disappointing. Things had started to warm up and we were beginning to hear the birds chirp, so while I knew I ought not to I was thinking that winter was behind us. Actually, last week on the "first day of spring" we also woke up to some snow and I quote Ramona "Mom, the calendar said it's the first day of spring and it was so wrong!"
Anyhow, today I was thinking during my morning driving of getting everyone shuttled around to where they need to be that I never really write much of substance in my blog or anywhere for that matter. I seem to recall that I used to write a lot and enjoy doing it, but appears that's one more thing that's fallen by the sidelines as I try to raise these little gals. So I thought I'd share a little bit about each of these sweet little girls.
The newest addition, Lucia, the little sweetheart just turned 8 months. She's a super smiley baby and is always anxious for someone to hold her or amuse her, especially Sasha. Her favorite thing in the whole world, besides Mamma of course, is taking a bath. Nothing gets her excited like bath time. It's so funny if she even sees the bathroom door open she makes a mad crawl for the bathtub, pulls herself up on it and starts screaming for someone to put her in. (Don't worry, I'm right behind her.) So obviously she's crawling a lot now and pulling herself up on furniture and scooting along, even trying to reach for other furniture to maneuver between. She hates baby food, like any baby food I offer her. So, she's still a heavy nurser and I'm constantly trying to figure out table food I can offer her that she won't choke on. Lucia is talking tons of baby talk now and has the cutest little dimple under one of her eyes. Her hair is still a lot lighter than the rest of us, but I'm betting it will still get darker.
Miss Sasha is growing up a lot these days. She's always asking when she gets to go to kindergarten and when it will be summer so she doesn't have to wear socks. She has the most awesome hearty laugh. I love, love, love when people have genuine boisterous laughs and Sasha has definitely developed one. She love to try and make Lucia laugh which gets her laughing even more. Sasha continues to be an obsessive pack rat, but luckily she'll let me in her room once in a while to help purge the chaos. Sasha is perpetually our night owl, just like her daddy. If she's sleeping before 10pm it's cause to celebrate and which is really annoying because Ramona and Lucia go to sleep at 8 like clockwork. I think she just knows this is her only chance to be alone with Mike and I so she takes advantage of the opportunity. She's been doing gymnastics for a while now which she really loves and it's so cute to see her jumping around. The girls have gymnastics on Fridays at 5, so we've developed this routine where we pick Mike up on the way home and grab a pizza or something easy. When we get home we do dinner and watch a movie with the kids which has become a fun, relaxing night everyone looks forward to. I let the girls pick the movie, but try to make it something not animated so I can stand to sit through it. Tonight is Sasha's pick "Bob the Butler" some Disney film, I let you know how it is.
Lastly, the eldest of the brood, Ramona. This morning as I was walking Ramona to her class because we were tardy once again, I was thinking how it feels so strange to have a child that's old enough to go to school. I just don't feel that old, though I'm sure I look it, to be a mom that has school-age children and be driving a mini-van and wear LL Bean clothes as my wardrobe, not just outerwear, and enforce things like no ice cream for breakfast even though we all know I'm going to sneak into the kitchen and have some. I digress, back to Ramona, yes she's getting a lot older and sometimes a lot sassier. She loves school which is awesome, though she always tells me all she really cares about is having fun, in particular carnivals. She loves gymnastics too and is always ecstatic when there's a roller skating party at school. She now hates ballet with a passion, but I am forcing her to finish out this school year to teach her she can't be a quitter. Though in reality I doubt she'll even remember this and if she does it certainly won't be fondly. Lastly, she read her first book ever to me last night almost by herself which I was really impressed by since I don't home school so my kids are bound to be just average. But I'll love them all the same.
Wow, this is so much writing for one day, so I think I'll save Mike and I for another day. Though I will say my recent project has been losing the baby weight and I'm slowly making progress. Mike is definitely set to graduate May 2009. Maybe you've heard other dates flying around, but that was always just my wishful thinking and he's actually right on target with the expected grad date he was given upon acceptance.
that's all for now!
